Next rival: Burnley!
Burnley FC Assessment
Burnley based in Lancashire, near Manchester is a very traditional club who have enjoyed a up and down ride of promotion and relegation in the last 4 years.
Manager Sean Dyche was a tough central defender as a player, much in the mould of Jon Ansotegi. He is well regarding in England and has built his success at Burnley on hard work, team spirit and togetherness.
They won the Championship (equivalent of the Segunda) title last season, but optimism gained from the 23 game unbeaten run may not be enough for them to survive in the Premier League.
With influential midfield player Joey Barton departing for Glasgow Rangers and no high-profile additions, Burnley’s current squad has arguably been weakened, which signals a tough season ahead.
They have little invention in their midfield and we could dominate them if we can get the ball to Zuru.
Striker Andre Gray will be their main goal threat. He is quick and aggressive and prefers to play on the shoulder of the last defender. However he has never played at the top level and it remains to be see if he can make the transition to the Premier League.
Gray is showing strong pre-season form and he netted a hat-trick against Glasgow Rangers last Saturday. He has scored eight goals in five pre-season matches.
This will be a testing fixture and a tough physical challenge for our players. I believe we can narrowly win this game if we withstand their pressing game and well rehearsed set plays from dead ball situations.
